Frequently Asked Questions

I aim to dispatch orders within 1–2 business days after payment has been confirmed. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. You’ll receive a dispatch confirmation as soon as your jewellery is on its way.

All UK orders are sent free of charge using Royal Mail Special Delivery. Tracking information is provided after dispatch. You can find the full details in the shipping policy.

Orders to the Republic of Ireland are sent free of charge using fully tracked FedEx delivery unless otherwise stated. EU and international orders are also sent using a fully tracked service, with FedEx used wherever possible. If FedEx is unavailable or unsuitable for a destination, I may use another trusted tracked courier. International shipping costs are shown at checkout.

Your dispatch email will include the tracking information once it is available. Tracking can take a short time to update after the parcel receives its first carrier scan. You can also use the order tracking page.

Check the tracking first, as it normally gives the latest carrier update. If the expected delivery date has passed, the tracking has not moved for an unusual length of time or it shows a delivery problem, please contact me with your order number and full name so I can investigate with the carrier.

Orders delivered outside the UK and EU may be subject to import duties, taxes, customs charges, brokerage fees or carrier handling fees. Unless checkout clearly states otherwise, these charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost and are the customer’s responsibility. You can use the import duties and taxes calculator for a general estimate before ordering.

Ps Its Vintage is based in Northern Ireland. Orders sent directly from Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland and other EU destinations are not normally subject to import duties or customs charges on delivery. Any VAT due will be handled as part of the sale where required. The shipping policy explains this in more detail.

Please provide a complete street address wherever possible. Some tracked delivery services cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes or only accept them in selected destinations. Please contact me before ordering if you need delivery to a P.O. Box.

Yes. For online orders, please notify me within 14 days after delivery if you wish to cancel and return an item. Once you have notified me, it must be sent back within a further 14 days. The item should be returned in the condition supplied, with the Ps Its Vintage security identification label and packaging kept in place while you inspect or try it on. Please read the full returns policy before posting anything back.

Email sales@psitsvintage.co.uk with your order number and the item you wish to return. I’ll provide the correct return address and instructions. Please contact me before posting the parcel so the return can be handled safely and matched to your order.

For an approved UK change-of-mind return, please use the enclosed Royal Mail Special Delivery return bag and follow the instructions provided. International change-of-mind returns must be sent using tracked and insured postage at the customer’s cost. If an item is faulty, damaged in transit or not as described when received, I will cover reasonable return postage using an appropriate tracked and insured service.

The Ps Its Vintage security identification label helps confirm that a returned item is the exact one-of-a-kind piece originally supplied. Please keep it attached while inspecting or trying on the jewellery and only remove it when you are certain you wish to keep the item.

Removal of the label does not automatically remove any statutory cancellation right. However, a return without its label will require additional identity and condition checks. If the jewellery has been worn, altered, damaged or handled beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect it, a deduction may be made for any actual reduction in value where permitted by law. If the item returned is not the original item supplied, a refund will not be due. This does not affect your statutory rights if the item received was faulty or not as described.

Please contact me as soon as possible with your order number. Keep the item, outer box, inner packaging and shipping label, and send clear photographs where possible. Photos taken within 48 hours can be helpful for a transit claim, but this does not limit your statutory rights. I’ll explain the next steps and arrange an appropriate return where required.

I’ll confirm when the return has been received and inspected. Any refund due will be processed to the original payment method without undue delay and no later than 14 days after I receive the returned item, or earlier where required after you provide evidence that it has been sent back. Your bank or card provider may take additional time to show the payment.

For the most reliable result, use a proper ring sizer or have your finger measured by a local jeweller. You can also use the Ring Size Chart & Calculator to compare UK, US and EU sizes and inner diameters. I’m happy to check the measurements of a particular ring before you order.

Band width, profile, shape and the design of the setting can all affect how a ring feels. Wider bands often fit more closely than narrow bands, while large settings can make a ring feel or sit differently on the finger. Finger size can also change slightly with temperature. If fit is important, ask for the band width and internal measurements before buying.

Some can, but not every ring is suitable. Resizing depends on the metal, setting, stone placement, band thickness, previous work and overall condition. Full eternity rings, delicate shoulders and some patterned or engraved bands can be difficult or unsuitable to alter. Please check with an experienced jeweller before purchasing rather than assuming a ring can be resized.

No. Jewellery is sold in the size and condition described in the listing. I can provide detailed measurements and photographs so you can discuss possible alterations with your own trusted jeweller before ordering.

These are common metal or fineness marks. 375 usually indicates 9ct gold, 585 indicates 14ct gold, 750 indicates 18ct gold and 925 indicates sterling silver. PLAT is commonly used as a platinum mark. A single stamp is not always a complete UK hallmark, and its meaning can depend on the item’s age and country of origin. Marks present on each piece are shown or described in the listing. No. A full hallmark is not the same as a simple metal stamp. Under current UK law, jewellery offered for sale as gold, silver, platinum or palladium generally requires a legally recognised hallmark when it is above the relevant exemption weight, unless another legal exemption applies. The exemption weights are 1g for gold and palladium, 7.78g for silver and 0.5g for platinum. Genuine older, foreign or lightweight pieces may be unmarked, partially marked or have marks worn by age. I examine the hallmarks, metal marks, construction, setting style, fittings, materials, wear and design details, together with testing and provenance where available. Some pieces can be dated closely, while others can only be attributed to an approximate period. Any uncertainty is stated rather than presented as fact. Stones are tested using appropriate professional tools where possible. The listing will state whether a stone is believed to be natural, synthetic or lab-created when this can be determined. Mounted stones can limit the tests that are possible, so any uncertainty or testing limitation will be made clear.

A stone set in jewellery cannot usually be removed and weighed without risking damage. Where a confirmed weight is unavailable, carat weight may be estimated from the stone’s measurements, cut and proportions. Estimated weights are clearly described as approximate and should not be treated as the same as a loose-stone laboratory weight.

A laboratory report, certificate, valuation or other document is included only when this is specifically stated in the product listing. Otherwise, the listing is a detailed sales description based on the available hallmarks, tests, measurements and examination; it is not an independent laboratory report or formal insurance valuation.

Many old-cut diamonds were shaped by hand rather than cut to modern standardised proportions. They may have chunkier facets, a higher crown, a smaller table and a visible open culet. Their sparkle can look softer, broader or more candlelit than a modern brilliant cut, and individual stones often vary in shape and symmetry. These differences are part of their character, not automatically faults.

At Ps Its Vintage, antique generally describes jewellery that is around 100 years old or more. Vintage describes older jewellery from a later period, typically at least 20 years old but not yet antique. Preloved means previously owned and can include both vintage and more recent pieces. Yes. The jewellery is one of a kind unless a listing clearly says otherwise, and the piece photographed is the exact item you will receive. I photograph each item from several angles so you can examine its design, hallmarks and condition before buying.

Preloved, vintage and antique jewellery is not expected to look factory-new. Light surface marks, softened detail, patina, previous resizing or other signs of age can be normal. I describe notable wear, damage, repairs or alterations that I identify and show the actual item in close-up photographs. Please read the full description and measurements as well as viewing the images.

Items are gently cleaned and checked where appropriate. I avoid unnecessary heavy polishing because it can remove patina, crisp edges, engraving or other original detail. If I know that a piece has been repaired, resized, restored or fitted with a later component, I will note this in the description. You can also read the vintage jewellery care guide.

Close-up photography is used so you can see small details, which can make a piece appear larger on screen than it is in real life. Screen settings, lighting and reflections can also affect how metal and gemstone colours appear. Always check the listed millimetre measurements, weight and scale photographs. You’re welcome to ask for another view if a particular detail matters to you.

Many pieces are very wearable, but suitability depends on the construction, setting, gemstones and condition of the individual item. Delicate claws, foil-backed stones, enamel, pearls, opals and other sensitive materials may need extra care. Remove jewellery for sport, manual work, sleeping, swimming and contact with cleaning products. Please ask before buying if you want a piece specifically for everyday wear.

Yes. Jewellery is carefully packaged in a presentation box suitable for gifting or keeping, with protective outer packaging for delivery.

Only when the original or period box is included and specifically shown or mentioned in the listing. Most pieces are supplied in a Ps Its Vintage presentation box instead. A box shown purely as a photographic prop will not be included unless the description says it is.

Yes. Add your message to the order notes at checkout and I’ll include a handwritten note at no extra cost. Please check the wording and delivery address carefully before placing the order.

Absolutely. If you need a closer view of a hallmark, setting, clasp, inclusion, area of wear or the jewellery being held for scale, please send me a message. I’ll provide additional photographs, video or measurements where possible before you decide.

Lay-by may be available on selected items priced above £500. A 10% non-refundable deposit secures the piece, with the remaining balance normally paid over three months under an agreed written schedule. The jewellery is dispatched only after full payment. Please contact me before checkout and read the lay-by payment policy.

Ps Its Vintage is primarily an online jewellery business, and I also exhibit at selected antique fairs, vintage fairs, horse shows and other events across the UK and Ireland. New pieces are added regularly whenever I find something worth bringing to Ps Its Vintage. Because most jewellery is one of a kind, stock changes rather than being continually restocked. Check New Arrivals or join the mailing list for occasional updates.

I source from established dealers, auctions, antique fairs and private collections across Northern Ireland, Ireland, Great Britain and occasionally further afield. Every item is selected individually, then researched, checked, photographed and described before it is offered for sale.
