An antique Victorian 9ct rose gold hinged bangle with chased ivy engraving across the front. Ivy was traditionally associated with lasting affection in Victorian jewellery, giving the engraving a meaning beyond its decorative design. The bangle fastens with a push clasp and safety chain.
Hallmarked in Chester in 1898, with the maker's mark H.G & S LTD for Henry Griffith & Sons Ltd, alongside 9, 375, the Chester mark and date letter P. The bangle weighs approximately 11.2g, measures 7.9mm wide and 3.4mm deep, and is suited to a 7 to 7.5-inch wrist. There are very minor dings to the back, as shown in the photographs.
